  • He's so big!

Things have settled down here a bit, after going to Michigan twice in September. Unless something happens this week, we'll spend the whole month of October in St. Louis.

Not that things are boring! With Benjamin in the house, there's something new happening everyday. He's about 4 1/2 months, and just about 15 lbs. He's strong enough to sit up in the high chair - he had his first rice cereal yesterday. Mostly he just likes to bite on the spoon - we think he's working on one or more teeth.

He also likes his horsey jumper seat!

And he learned in the last few days to roll over from his back to his tummy  - he's been able to roll from his tummy to his back for a while now. He can really hold his head up well.

He likes reading the Harbor Freight flyer with Dad... he really wants an air compressor for Christmas

And of course he loves his Mommy! and car rides are OK too.

  • 5 weeks old already!

It's been over a month since I posted last. We've been taking pictures, but taking the time to get them posted has been a challenge.

Since we have lots of folks outside the family interested in seeing baby photos, I made a slide show and put it on my business web site. That way they don't have to dig through the Xanga site just to find the photos.

I sent most of an email with the link, but here it is again:

We love being parents and plan to do it all over again. But not right away! He's definitely a handful, and we have so much to learn - seems like he's changing every day, so there's always something new to figure out.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the farm in 10 days!

  • Too Cute!

Joe here again - Tonya hasn't gotten much sleep the last few nights. I thought I post a few more items from your new cousin/nephew/buddy.

I took this video on Sunday.

This was our favorite of the photos takes by the hospital photog. The rest are in our photo area.

Hard to imagine how you can love someone so much, that you've just met.

  • say Hello to Benjamin!

We were blessed and surprised yesterday at 5:53 PM, with the birth of our son, Benjamin Joseph. The doctor got his head out, and then his arms, and then held him there and made us guess what it was. Tonya, me, Tonya's sister-in-law Emily (who was a HUGE help during labor) and the nurse all guessed 'girl'. Then the doctor delivered the rest of the baby and it was... a BOY!

We had also spent most of the last 7 months anticipating a C-section delivery, but in the last few weeks God changed our baby's situation, and we were able to deliver naturally! Lots of hard work for Tonya, but so much better for everyone. Thanks so much for everyone's prayers on our behalf.

We are ecstatic - just too much for words to describe.

Much more to come - no doubt!

The Baby Team (except Emily, who took the photo). Dr. Shelton (on the left) has been delivering babies in private practice since 1984 (somewhere around 2500 babies), and Nurse Peggy (on the right) has been in labor & Delivery since 1975. Their experience was invaluable. I never realized how much of a OB doctor or nurse's job was cheerleading! Both of these ladies were on the pep squad in their day, and practice served them well yesterday.

  • 31 days to go! (approximately?)

But who's counting?  Little G is almost here!  These are pictures from our last ultrasound on May 8th when our baby weighed 6 pounds and 2 ounces.  We're definitely having a tall, healthy baby!  Our due date is June 18th, but who knows really?  And Little G was breech last time they checked, but there's still time to turn back around before delivery.  He/she is rolling around ALL the time!  It is the coolest feeling, but a little strange to sit still and watch my stomach jumping around on its own.  It's alive!

Little G's face (if you look closely, he/she has a head full of hair, too!)

Little G's profile (sucking the right thumb & the left hand is playing with his/her ear)
